American rapper and the current billionaire, Kanye West, has donated $2 million to support the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and has also stepped out to join the protestors.
This was made known by a representative for Kanye West, who revealed the donation to CNN.
There have been large protest in response to the killing of George Floyd, and Kanye West has revealed via a representative that he has donated $2 million so far to charities associated with Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd and has set up a college fund to cover tuition for Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter Gianna.
Three of the police officers arrested in Floyd’s death make their first court appearance Thursday afternoon, as the Floyd family holds the first of several planned memorial services.
Derek Chauvin, the white officer who pinned George Floyd to the ground by his neck for nearly 9 minutes, was arrested last week and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. On Wednesday, prosecutors charged him with a more serious count of second-degree murder.
Kanye West has also pledged to cover legal costs for the Arbery and Taylor families. And in his hometown of Chicago, he’ll also be aiding black-owned businesses with financial contributions.
He also decided to go out and join the protesters to help in the protesting.
