On the 29th of July, 2021, a letter was rife on social media about a certain ‘Our Day’ request letter from a student to his mother concerning items he wanted for his vacation day celebration. This letter was written by Oswald, a nine-year pupil.
He wrote this letter as a request to his mother. Little did he know that it will receive favour from the brands.

This letter went viral with netizens appreciating the directness of the young boy in his choice of provisions for the faithful day. He sounded confident and insistent in all he wanted for his big ‘Our Day’.
Some of the items he requested included: a big coke for Mrs Appiah, his teacher obviously; one ceres drink, which he drew; Dolait; White Chocolate or Easter eggs; a pack of drinks and biscuit; breakfast and lunch; and a whole lot more.
The request went viral when a colleague of the boy’s mother, decided to share the request on Twitter. This is how it became viral.
The subscription was sort of emotional blackmail. The boy indicated that he had not failed his mother in the examination he took, so she should not fail him too. This subtle blackmail probably put the mother in a tight corner, so she couldn’t hide it but share it with her colleagues.
According to posts on social media, the public decided to support the mother. A mobile money number was put out there for people to support. Artists like Kidi also proposed to perform at the ‘Our Day’.
The support has been massive with paid television giant, DSTV, giving the boy a whole 3-month free subscription for his vacation stay.
The National Science and Maths Quiz organizers also have a package for the young class 4 lad.
Fast food company, Papaye, also proposed a nice package for this boy.
An innocent letter from a boy to his mother turned into a national sensation. It is a miracle!
Below is a long list of sponsors and donors for little Oswald Our Day Wish:
